If the football news and features on talkSport are to be believed, Liverpool are reportedly ready to stun the football world with an approach for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.
Reports were starting to emerge that Tevez had agreed to join Serie A giants Juventus but Liverpool seemingly want the controversial Argentinian striker as a replacement for Luis Suarez should their star striker leave the club this summer.
Manchester City are apparently keen to offload Tevez who has never been afraid in publicly voicing the issues he has with England and living in the country while he works as a professional footballer.
“I don’t even leave my house. When my contract ends I will not return to Manchester ever – not even on holiday,” he told an Argentinian chat show host in the summer of 2011.
Here are five major problems with Liverpool’s planned pursuit of the striker.
His Feelings
The above quote demonstrates Tevez’s feelings towards Manchester, which suggest he may be reluctant to commit to a long term move anywhere else in England.
Of course two years has passed since that point, but Tevez clearly still has big issues with the country and wouldn’t even still be in the Premier League had he managed to secure that move to AC Milan.
The Fans
Liverpool supporters may be very reluctant in accepting this sort of deal from their club.
Liverpool and Manchester are two cities with huge football rivalries and the fact Tevez has played for both Manchester clubs is not something which will sit well with the Liverpool supporters who pay hard earned money to go and watch their team every week.
Tie that in with his feelings about the North West and it doesn’t make for a very good recipe.

Mats Hummels to Manchester United rumours are baseless
An inside and close source to Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels claims the German defender could be tempted into a move to Manchester United.
Hummels’ future at the German club has been thrown into doubt this summer following rumours of possible interest from Barcelona and the way Dortmund have been outgunned by Bayern Munich in German and European football.
Manchester United have now emerged as the apparent favourites for his signature, as Jurgen Klopp seems destined to watch the Borussia Dortmund team he’s created fall apart around him.
However, the legitimacy of the rumours and the realistic basis in which they have been made is highly questionable. The source told SportsDirect News in an interview:
“Mats wants to sort out his future as soon as possible and United are a team that interests him.”
There are plenty of reasons why United fans shouldn’t get too excited by this quote because it is fundamentally flawed in several ways.
SportsDirect News ran that story about Wayne Rooney reportedly ready to join Newcastle United before it was taken down from the site and apologies issued to the necessary parties.
Hummels himself has also made it fairly clear that he sees his future in Germany, which destroys the idea that he’s looking to leave.
It’s also questionable as to why he would turn down the chance to join Barcelona, becoming the primary defender in their back four, only to switch to Manchester United, a club with a more competitive group of defenders. Hummels said in an interview with Kicker:
“There was never any contact. Neither with Barcelona nor with any other team. If at some point there’s something to these things, then I will say so. And when I now say that these speculations are baseless, that should be enough.”
The big giveaway that there may not be any truth behind the apparent quote is the fact that the source is not attributed.
Mats Hummels has a large contract at Borussia Dortmund, which doesn’t expire until the summer of 2017.
He’s the leading defender in the Dortmund back four and is regularly appearing for the German national side thanks to his exploits at club level, which have made him one of the most sought after defenders in Europe.
There’s no doubt he would be a fantastic signing for Manchester United but it looks like a possible deal which has been born out of speculation, started by those Barcelona rumours.

Why Arsenal have to use their money to re-sign Fabregas
Since Gazidis has made ample funds available, Arsenal now have no excuse for failure to re-sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona should he become available.
Liverpool plans to become a financial super power
Liverpool’s Managing Director Ian Ayre has given a big idea over how Liverpool are going to turn themselves into one of the financial superpowers of English and European football.
He’s hinted that everything Liverpool do is aimed towards the impending cost control measures which are imminent across the professional game, aimed at penalising clubs that spend more than they earn.
Ayre has revealed that Liverpool’s planned redevelopment of Anfield remains on track as the club looks to increase the current capacity of the stadium up to 60,000, matching Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. The Liverpool chief told the Sun:
“Our goal is to extend Anfield but we need certainty and that comes with the acquisition of properties. Real progress has been made in acquiring them. Once they have all been acquired we will go through the planning process.”
However, that’s only a fraction of the story as Liverpool look to become a self-sustainable and profit producing business, able to stand alone and compete with the rich owners in football across Europe.
It’s a common aim at Liverpool to produce a situation where the club is not reliant on funds from a personal owner or one particular party.
The club’s owner and leader of the Fenway Sports Group, John Henry, has explained that he wants all entities under the FSG banner to be able to finance themselves and that’s only just started at Liverpool. He told a WEEI FM reporter in a radio broadcast:
“At LFC we have only just begun there to build revenues. It has a global fan base and a global commercial appeal.”
That global fan base is the key and it’s something which Ayre has confirmed continues to grow at a steady and healthy rate.
